The best way to discover Lisbon is, in my opinion, to walk around the city by foot, getting lost in its streets and using trams, buses or subway to get to some more remote places of interest.
But, for those who prefer to have a guided tour, or for those seeking a little more action and want to have fun in some activities, here you have some recommendations.
A small yellow car … that speaks to you, and tells you things about the city. Each car carries 2 persons, they are rented per hour, and have a few recommended routes where an audio guide that works by GPS will tell you where to go, and explains the places that you pass by in the way, monuments, etc.
I have already tried it, and the truth is that it is a very fun way to see the city. They have routes of 1h or 2h, or also the option to rent the car for the whole day. Prices from 30€ for 2 people.
Rua dos Douradores, 16, Lisboa (Baixa)
Discovering Lisbon on top of a segway, it is what offers you Lisbon by Segway. They have tours of 1h, 2h and 3h from 35€ per person. The starting point is the same as the GoCar, and there is a combined tour for 55€ which includes the Segway and GoCar.
Rua dos Douradores, 16, Lisboa (Baixa)
The famous tuk tuk’s from Southeast Asia have invaded Lisbon in the past years. They are all over the city center and can be a fun way to discover Lisbon. Tuk Tuk Tejo is one of the companies that offers several tours of 1h, 2h or 3h, from 50€. Each tuk tuk can carry up to 3 passengers.

A bus … that transforms itself into a boat! Incredible but true, this tour is in an amphibious vehicle, showing you Lisbon by land and also by the Tagus river. The tour lasts around 90 minutes and costs 25€ per adult. Children from 2 to 16 years old and seniors +65 years pay only 15€.
Doca de Santo Amaro, Alcantara, Lisbon
Guided tour in Lisbon (old center)
This is a walking tour, which lasts 3 hours, and with a guide it shows you the most interesting sites and monuments of the old town of Lisbon: Praça do Comércio, Alfama, the Cathedral, etc… It is organised by LisbonHost, they do it in small groups, and it costs 25€ per person.
Other similar option, but cheaper, only 15€ per person, is organized by Inside Lisbon:
Another option, also with 3h duration around the old city center, and even cheaper … 0€! Yes, the tour is free, and it works based on tips. It is not mandatory to pay anything, but if you enjoyed the tour it expected that you give some tip to the guide:
Guided tour to Sintra-Cascais
The company Lisbon Inside organizes a 1 day tour to Sintra, Cascais and Estoril. They take you to the most emblematic sites such as the Palacio da Pena in Sintra, the cliff at Cabo da Roca, the center of the village of Cascais, among many others. They do this in small groups of approx. 8 people, which is great. The tour departs from Lisbon, the duration are 8h in total, and costs 56€/person. It does not include food.
Guided tour to Fátima
Another full day excursion to anyone who wants to go to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora de Fatima, yo have this tour organized by Gray Line. The duration are 10h in total, and the price is 72€/person. Fatima is 125km away from Lisbon, so approximately 3 hours of the tour will be traveling. It includes a visit to the medieval village of Óbidos in the way, which is very worth it. The tour doesn’t include food, although there is an option to reserve lunch by paying extra 16€.
Tourist Bus “Hop-on Hop-off”
You have this in every touristic city around the world, and Lisbon is no exception. The famous “hop-on hop-off” buses, 2 story, with audio-guides, for which you can buy a ticket of 24h, 48h or 72h, and during that time use the buses at your convenience, to go on your own rhythm to the main tourist sites.
There are 3 large companies offering similar services: Yellow Bus, City Sighseeing and Gray Line.
